Looop CLM vs Legisway: which contract management tool should you choose?

Legisway is an expensive, broad legal platform where contract management is an afterthought, and where customers often get stuck. Here's why Looop is the smarter choice.

Comparison between Looop and Legisway contract management software

Legisway (Wolters Kluwer) is a well-known name in legal tech. But "well-known" and "expensive" go hand in hand here, and what you get back for that price is often disappointingly limited for the actual contract process. Here's why.

This article is based on publicly available information from Wolters Kluwer, independent software comparison sites, and signals we pick up from prospects and the market at the time of writing. Legisway does not publish exact pricing, figures cited here are indicative. Always check current information with the vendor directly if in doubt.

What is Legisway?

Legisway is a broad Wolters Kluwer platform for large legal departments: entity management, litigation, claims, intellectual property, real estate, and contract management. Contract management is therefore one module within a broad, pricey suite, not the main purpose of the software.

What is Looop?

Looop is purpose-built for the full lifecycle of your contracts: drafting, signing, monitoring, and timely renewal or termination, with NORA AI reading your contracts for you. Not a broad platform you pay for and mostly don't use, but a tool sharply focused on this one process.

The key differences

LooopLegisway
FocusFull contract lifecycleBroad legal platform (entities, litigation, IP, real estate, contracts)
Digital signing (e-signature)✅ Built in, native flowNot native, integrates with external providers such as DocuSign or Adobe Sign
AI that reads contracts and fills in fields✅ NORA AI, included in every planNot mentioned on the vendor's website
Contract drafting✅ Built inMainly storage, tracking and reporting; no drafting functionality mentioned
Entry price€59 / monthTypically already around €15,000 per year, excluding implementation
Switching to another tool✅ Your data stays yours, no lock-inCustomers report this is difficult, see below
ImplementationSelf-serve start, no implementation project requiredExtensive, guided implementation project
Entity management (org chart, registration numbers, obligations)✅ From the Enterprise plan✅ Core feature

Price: a lot of money for limited contract functionality

In practice, Legisway often costs around €15,000 per year, and that's before you've even started an implementation project. For that price you get no built-in e-signature flow (you connect DocuSign or similar yourself) and, as far as we could establish, no AI that reads your contracts for you. So if contract management is your actual goal, you're mostly paying for modules you don't use.

Vendor lock-in: a real problem

Something we hear repeatedly from organisations using Legisway: once set up with hundreds of contracts, switching to a different system becomes a major operation. Customers with 500+ contracts in the system report feeling stuck, not because Legisway works so well, but because getting the data out and working again elsewhere is a project in itself.

At Looop, we flip that around. Your data is, and stays, yours. We want customers to stay with us because Looop works well and adds value, not because switching is too much hassle. We see ourselves as a partner, not a vendor that locks you in: together, we make the contract management world better, in a relationship built for the long term on trust, not on being trapped.

Are you a large, established legal department that also wants entity management? That's no longer a reason to reach for a broad platform like Legisway: on the Enterprise plan, Looop includes built-in entity management, with a visual org chart of your legal structure, contracts linked directly to the right entity, and per-entity management of directors, obligations and documents. Litigation and IP management are not included as standard, but we build them as custom work for your organisation: you pay once, with no expensive recurring fees for it. For combining contract management and entity management in one environment, you no longer need to look at a broad, expensive platform. Looop scales comfortably to that scale too, with hundreds or thousands of contracts.

Conclusion

Legisway is a heavy platform with a heavy price tag, where contract management is a side feature. If contract management, from drafting to signing to renewal, is your actual goal, Legisway has you paying for functionality you don't use, missing a built-in e-signature flow and AI support, and risking getting stuck in a system that's hard to leave later.
